On the day you will:
Arrive at 9:30am, Get settled in and have a chat with other likeminded people that are in attendance. Parking is available on the day at the gorgeous 11th century church right next door to the garden. What a view it is too!
10am, We will have a little introduction from Lesley where she will tell you some information about what is growing in her garden and the story of their beautiful home, including the hideaways you can book to stay in.
We will then have some guided drawing time with Rachael where we will look at how to observe plants and leaves and look at their structure with drawing in mind. We will look at mark making techniques using a biro as the main focus, but you can use anything you’d like, pencil, paints, oil pastels, anything you’d like to bring along. That said, you don’t have to bring anything with you, you can opt to have it all provided for you on the day!
11am, You’ll be able to find your own little spot in the garden and choose a plant, a texture, a log, a leaf, anything you’d like to study and draw in your own time, or you can choose from a selection of precut plants and flowers. Rachael will be on hand to chat to and talk through any drawing questions you have and Lesley will be available to give you any plant knowledge you need if you want more information on what you are drawing.
11:30am we will have a brew (tea or coffee) and homemade cakes (made by Lesley!) or feel free to bring your own snacks along with you! You can use this time to chat together or carry on with your drawing, it’s really your choice on how you use the time.
12pm, Back to your observational drawing, you can choose to stay and focus in one spot or spend your time moving around the garden to discover new plants.
1pm, We will wrap up, collect our things, exchange contact details with anyone you’d like to keep in touch with and say our goodbyes.
